“Mala” Crayfish is the signature dish on “Ghost Street” (Gui Jie 簋街) in Beijing.  Almost every restaurant that we pass by is selling this delicacy! Some of the restaurants even have three or branches on the same street.  We picked Zai Zai restaurant (簋街仔仔) because there is at least 8 branches of them along the street so I thought they gotta be good right?   Continue reading

Lu Family Restaurant(陸紀飯莊) is located just across from the popular Xihu Tiandi (西湖天地), serving traditional food of Hangzhou.  The dishes that we ordered – shrimps with Longjin tea leaves (龍井蝦仁), West Lake Fish With Vinegar Gravy(西湖醋魚), Dongpo Rou (braised pork 東坡肉,) and Sister Song’s Fish Soup (宋嫂魚羹 )are classics that you will find in any restaurant serving Hangzhou cuisine.   Continue reading

Cafe Cross-Legged in Kota Damansara, PJ, is a fusion cafe, serving original recipes with a twist and with a thought for the health conscious. Starting with my favorite dish, the smoke chicken rice is not your usual gingery, soy sauce Hainanese chicken rice, but it is succulent chicken breast smoked to tender with a uniqe woody taste topped with a dash of black pepper. The rice is a bit of a surprise as it is fluffy and fragrant with mixed herbs.

Tanjung Tualang Prawn @Restaurant Sun Mee Fong, Malaysia


When one goes to Tanjung Tualang (about 45 minutes drive from Ipoh), the delicacy to eat there is definitely the big head prawns.  We ate at Restaurant Sun Mee Fong (新美芳海鮮樓) which looks like a new restaurant, but it’s an established seafood restaurant that’s been around for the past 20 years and has just been rebuilt.  Continue reading
