When you are in Bali, Babi Guling is the one food that you absolutely must try. You can’t leave Bali without trying because it’s pretty much equivalent to visiting Penang and not eating char koay teow. The ubiquitous babi guling, or roast suckling pig, is commonly found in small stalls known as “warung”. Kuala Sangga (老港漁村) is a tiny little fishing village 30 minutes of boat ride away from Kuala Sepetang. Kuala Sangga was established in the 1890’s and today it has about 40 – 50 families living in the village. The village is so small that it will take you less than 20 minutes to walk from one end to the other. To get there, get a boat ride from one of the many boat ride providers at Kuala Sepetang’s port as it is only rechable by boat. Continue reading
Bintan Island is located within the Riau Archipelago of Indonesia. With its proximity to Singapore, it is often visited via a short ferry ride from Singapore (45 minutes to 2 hours of duration depending on the port of arrival). Other ways of reaching Bintan Island include ferry from Johor Bahru, Malaysia or direct flights from Jakarta, Indonesia.
