Maruekatayawan Palace – Palace of Love and Hope @ Hua Hin, Thailand

The Maruekatayawan (Mrigadayavan) Palace, also known as the Palace of Love and Hope was built by King Rama IV as a summer getaway.  It is located on Bang Kra Beach just 10km north of Hua Hin.  The palace is a series of 16 teak buildings that’s right by the beach, set among a splendid landscape garden of cork trees and fountains; and with its soft hues of blue and red, who wouldn’t feel the love and hope when visiting the palace!  Continue reading

Khao Luang Cave @ Phetchaburi, Thailand

The Khao Luang limestone cave is in Phetchaburi Province, easily done as a day trip from Hua Hin just about an hour drive away.   Housing hundreds of Buddha statues, it is one of the most important caves in the area because one of the Buddhas was built under the command of King Rama V to show his dedication to King Rama IV. Studded with stalactites, the cave has natural openings on the roof, mimicking a skylight effect where sun rays shine through, illuminating some of the Buddhist statues within the cave.   Continue reading

Plearnwan is a vintage village built with rusty tin pieces and wooden planks, made to reminisce the old days of Hua Hin.  The name “Plearnwarn” has its meaning where “Plearn” is a combination of “Play” and “Learn”, and “Wan” means “yesterday” in Thai. From the name itself, Plearnwan promises some good fun for everyone by entering a world of nostalgia through its main gate that looks a bit like a time tunnel.  Continue reading
