L’Isle Sur La Sorgue, also known as the “Little Venice” of Provence, is a small village encircled by the Sorgue River. The crystal-clear water, working waterwheels, frolicking ducks and the blooming flowers give a rather romantic and charming atmosphere to the town.
Day 8 of our journey was dedicated to taking our pre-wedding photo shoots, DIY. It was a Monday, so relatively it was a lot quieter as it was a rest day for some of the shops, and hence fewer people.
Our first photo shoot location was at the castle in Lourmarin. The castle is an excellent place for photos as it provides superb background throughout the castle. Whether it’s the overall stoney castle, the internal framework of the castle, the lovely summery garden, or the field of Mulberry trees often seen in Van Gogh’s paintings just right next to the castle.
Our second photo shoot location was at Cours Mirabeau in Aix En Provence (30 minutes drive from Lourmarin). Although it was a Monday and presumably fewer people, the traffic into Aix En Provence was still pretty bad and we had to drive round and round a few times before finding the parking lot. But, it was all worth the effort as Cours Mirabeau is full of colors, architecture, and we stumbled upon a beautiful church and some street paintings.
We spent a whole day taking these photos and it’s not as easy as it looks. In fact, it was really tiring! I took time doing my make up and hair, changing into different gowns, Gary took time adjusting the settings on the camera, the tripod and he had to run back and forth to fine tune the settings. But in retrospect, the process was fun and gave us some pre-wedding photographs a little different from others (though not as professional looking)!
