As soon as you step into Le Pont Boulangerie et Cafe, a whiff of warm, yeasty scent tantalizes you. The enormous contemporary cafe spans through three floors. The ground floor is the boulangerie, where artisanal and gourmet breads are seemingly suspended in the air because of the design.
You might have to eeny meeny miny moe your bread if you were choosing because everything looks impossibly good.
The spacious ground floor also caters to those who want to sit down for a quick bite and some coffee. Loving the industrial and minimalist mix here !
The charming first floor was where we dined. With the soft glow and warm ambiance, we immediately loosened up, ready to indulge.
Earl Grey Lavender (Rm 8, GST inclusive) – soothing with the scent of lavender. Honey comes as an optional packet but I’m all for it.
Hand-Brewed Kochere Coffee of Ethiopia origin (RM 16, GST inclusive) – the light brew imparts a delicate aroma with hints of fruity berries.
Beetroot Salad (RM 10.90, GST inclusive) – the mild salad dressing comprising of lemon, olive oil, salt & pepper complements the earthy beetroot, while rocket and olives add texture.
Mushroom Soup (RM 11.90) – rich with a drizzle of olive oil. What sets it apart with all the other mushroom soups is the additional piece of crunchy mushroom toast. It’s double mushroom-goodness when you dip the toast into the soup !
Le Pont Boulangerie has 4 different sandwich selections – Beef (RM 20.90), Smoked Salmon (RM 18.90), Tuna Egg (RM 17.90) and Vegetarian (14.90). To try a little bit of everything, we took the Sandwich Combo (RM 25.90, GST inclusive). Unfortunately the tuna egg was sold out on that day so we got two pieces of smoked salmon instead. The stunning sandwich combo is too gorgeous to be eaten and I couldn’t help admiring this from all angles.
From above, the salmon is adorned with pine nuts; the zucchini with a sprinkle of black pepper; and the beef with rocket and toasted garlic.
In between, the sandwiches have herbaceous fillings; subtle but making a point.
And at the very bottom layer of the sandwich is the puff pastry; superbly crisp and an ultimate French touch to this elegant sandwich combo. This is the must-have at Le Pont Boulangerie !
Anchovy Linguine (RM 19.90, GST inclusive) – perfumed with piquant flavors of chopped parsley. The linguine is delightful but it would have been even better with a stronger flavor of the anchovy.
Other items on Le Pont Boulangerie’s menu include Pissaldiere, Asparagus Salad, Braised Beef Brisket, Beef Stewed in Demi Glace, Mango Salmon, Squid Rissoto, Profiterole, French Toast and Waffles.
