Get ready to be dazzled at Manmaru Robatakyaki & Bar @ Atria Shopping Mall, which offers truly amazing Japanese cuisine with a new take. Its interior is eclectic; sporting a futuristic industrial look with robot-like lights dominating the ceiling; while also maintaining its Japanese charm at a different section.
I’m really loving this bar too because it somehow makes me think of a space ship.
The Salmon Tataki Salada (RM 35) wowed us at first sight. The intense colors from the spinach dressing, and the purple & yellow flowers just scream for attention. Its flavors too are astounding with subtle acidity and a light earthy note from the spinach.
Even edamame (RM 9) comes in a thoughtful design with two adjoining bowls (the empty bowl for placing the edamame shell).
The Chef’s Special Sashimi (RM 68) is superbly fresh with one of the most delicate plating ever.
The Foie Gras Roll (RM 45) is simple, but simple is the key because the alluring flavors of the foie gras shone through.
The Wafu Spaghetti (RM 48) is well-executed but less memorable, especially when all the dishes before it are unbelievably marvelous in terms of both presentation and flavor. The sauce is garlic-y with a hint of acidity from the pickled mustard, but it’s just not “wafu” enough; while the crab could have been fresher.
Manmaru carries quite a number of unique dishes that you probably won’t find in most of the Japanese restaurants, such as the Kushiyaki Moriawase,
the lobster roll,
the wagyu roll,
and the saba steak on softshell crab (which totally looks like a creature from outer space). All these pictures are taken from the menu and they all look impossibly intriguing. Will have to go back there again to try more things !
