Relish in waffle haven at Chequers @ TTD. There’s a waffle for every occasion, be it sweet or savory. Sometimes spiced, sometimes with a dash of chocolate chips, the many configurations of the airy and fluffy waffles will pique your curiosity.
Even the cafe’s name and signboard will remind you of waffles !
Down Home Benny (RM 19) – a real treat with poached eggs, beef bacon and watercress on savory waffle, with a drizzle of mustardy Hollandaise sauce. Real pretty-looking too with the intense colors.
Double Deck Croque Monsiuer (RM 18) sports the savory waffle too, with grilled turkey ham, tomato, gooey cheese, and cracked eggs. It’s similar to the big breakfast, but only that waffles are the new favorite source of carbohydrates.
Comprising of a glass of bircher museli accompanied by waffle strips filled with banana slices and chocolate chips, the Monkey Bar (RM 13) is versatile. It inherently falls under the breakfast menu, but having the fruity museli during any other times of the day makes perfect sense too.
Chequers Chicken Square (RM 23) – a fulfilling dish with deep-fried breaded chicken topped with sriracha sauce on spiced waffles. Infused with an orange hue, the spiciness in the waffle is subtle; just enough to make the waffle a little different but not overwhelmingly spicy.
Other waffle items at Chequers include Catch of the Day – savory waffle with salmon (RM 20), Moo Moo – savory waffle with beef patty (RM 28), Shroom Fiesta – spinach waffle with portabello musrhooms (RM 20), Sticky Stack with fruit compote (RM 17), cinnamon waffle with caramelized apples (RM 17) and deconstructed Tiramisu (RM 14). Waffle-less items are also available, such as various types of spaghetti (RM 24 – RM 25), Australian Striploin Steak (RM 42) and Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich (RM 24).

Aw, the spiral staircase!
The staircase looks prettier at night 🙂
I am terribly disappointed with my lunch visit today. I have ordered the ‘shroom fiesta’ in which it was suppose to have spinach waffle, grilled portobello, glaze cherry tomato, balsamic vinegar, rocket salad and shaved parmesan. The dish arrived without glazed cherry tomato and shaved parmesan. When I asked the waiter, he knew it was missing and just brushed it off by saying that the chef was new. I felt terribly cheated as I was charged RM 20 for something that was not delivered as described. On top of that the restaurant was not busy at all as it is Monday lunchtime, the chef had plenty of time to prepare the food properly. This will be my first and last trip to this place.
I am sorry to hear about your unhappy experience 🙁
