Hobo @ Ganlee & Co definitely belongs to the category of cafes that will instantly start an instagram frenzy the moment you enter. The shoplot previously occupied by the Chinese company Gan Lee & Co on Brewster Road is now hip & chic with old biscuit tins and popping colors.
It opens till late (1 am) so it could be the next popular hangout place for the night owls, not to mention that there is a tree with gorgeous tree branches,
a hiding Pinnochio,
and a comical, origami-inspired T-Rex drawn on the wall with a few simple blue lines.
Furnitures are mostly DIY, and salvaged doors seem to be Hobo @ Ganlee & Co’s favourite material.
Walkway seats are available if you wish.
The mint hot chocolate is rich and easily one of the best in Ipoh. If you’ve tried Andes Chocolate Mints, that’s what the drink more or less tastes like.
The cold brew is an exhilarating concoction which I had for breakfast the next day – a refreshing drink to kick-start the day.
The Berries & Cream Belgian Waffle (RM 14) though is not too exciting with a thin layer of berry sauce and a whole lot of cream. Expected at least a decent amount of berries compote for RM 14.
Other items on Hobo’s menu include drip coffee, aeropress coffee, vanilla, fresh juices, chocolate drinks, mocktails, pancakes, French toast and omlettes.
