Buffet breakfast at Lemon Garden, Shagri-La Kuala Lumpur is one of the best in Kl and simply awesome. Not only is the spread fantastic, I thought a few items are not as commonly seen in a buffet breakfast.
To start off, the cheese selection alone is not your usual cheddar and brie, but with a total of 8 kinds of cheeses to choose from including Livarot cheese and goat cheese.
The paper-wrapped chicken and otak-otak are meticulously wrapped and I must admit that wrapped food has that tendency to lure me to open them…. Personal theory that these two things are less common on a buffet menu as they require more work!
I also found the coolest way of eating honey at Lemon Garden – elegantly collecting dripping honey from the honeycomb.
Chocolate fountain lovers behold, there is not one, but two wonderful chocolate fountains, dark and milk chocolate. That’s a whole lot of chocolate for breakfast !
Pastry section in a breakfast buffet is common, but with an immense selection, almost giving an illusion of walking through a mini bakery shop, the pastry selection is extraordinary.
It’s a hard decision to make, choosing from delicious fruit tarts, cute muffins, sweet donuts, salmon bagels or healthy bread loaves.
Besides the few items which I thought are less common in a breakfast buffet, there is the more standard Western food selection including cold appetizers,
the salad section with (rare inclusion of ) rocket leaves,
sausages, baked beans, baked potatoes, etc,
the omelette & pancakes station,
and the cereal station.
For Chinese cuisine, there is the noodle station,
the porridge station,
the dim sum station,
and stir-fry dishes with rice, noodles, chicken, fish and more.
There’s also Indian cuisine, vegetarian, and of course Malaysian cuisine, featuring the nation’s favorite breakfast – nasi lemak.
More desserts and fruits for the sweet tooth.
The restaurant’s seating area is bright and looks out to the garden outside.
There’s also a few tables in the garden, next to a koi pond, among lush greens. A little quieter and a lovely place to enjoy morning coffe.
Truly enjoyed breakfast at Lemon Garden @ Shangrila Hotel !
