L’Isle Sur La Sorgue, also known as the “Little Venice” of Provence, is a small village encircled by the Sorgue River. The crystal-clear water, working waterwheels, frolicking ducks and the blooming flowers give a rather romantic and charming atmosphere to the town.
The town is famous for its antique market on Thursday and Sunday mornings. We were there on a Tuesday and the town was peaceful, serene and quiet. Perhaps all the hustle and bustle only happen on Thursdays and Sundays. There were still some antique stores that were open showcasing all sorts of items – huge elephant statues, lion statues, Easter Island statues, rusty bird cages, kitchen-ware, old foosball table, tiled table tops and old furnitures. A charismatic town to explore.
