We stopped by Cafe Florio at Roussillon to pick up some coffee and while waiting for the coffee, we discovered Restaurant Chez Nino downstairs and I was immediately drawn by the sun-flowers on the table. I’ve been dying to see blooming sun-flower fields but because of the time that we were in France, most of the sun flowers had wilted so I think I got pretty excited to see some blooming sun flowers!
I took the couscous salad (12.50 Euros) as that’s something I don’t normally see in Malaysia. The couscous salad was piquant with basil and if you look closer, there is more to the couscous. The finely chopped cucumbers and capsicum blend into the couscous and add another contrasting texture to the soft couscous. It’s a nicely-done salad with fresh, crunchy leaves with oil + vinegar dressing.
Gary took the nicoise salad (12.50 euros) and we topped up our meal with a plate of French fries. Gary’s salad was simpler. It was basically the same leaves and salad dressing as the couscous salad, with the addition of salmon and anchovies. Both salads were good, but I do favor my couscous salad over the nicoise salad.
Here’s some dessert which we didn’t get to try.
The cafe’s menu selection is decently priced though quite limited, with a few types of meat and salad, and all in French! But the pictures were self-explanatory.
