Talking about low profile, Classix 253 Cafe located opposite the stadium in Ipoh has no sign board at all on its facade. The blue tents filled with people pretty much blocks everything else there is to it, but the more intriguing so I paid it a visit.

If you are an Ipohan, you’ve probably come across “Gomok” at the corner shoplot while roaming about in new town. Gomok has a round chubby dude as its mascot and oh dear does that mean that we will become “gemuk”(fat) after eating at Gomok? Gemuk or not, Gomok is a fun addition to the handful of halal cafes in Ipoh, serving Malay and Western cuisine.
The Milk House Cafe on top of serving cafe food, it also serves a rarity – fresh milk, delivered daily from the origin of production. It is located in a long, narrow stretch of space between two buildings, maximizing the space which is barely 2 meters wide.
Hobo @ Ganlee & Co definitely belongs to the category of cafes that will instantly start an instagram frenzy the moment you enter. The shoplot previously occupied by the Chinese company Gan Lee & Co on Brewster Road is now hip & chic with old biscuit tins and popping colors. Continue reading
Chokodok Reggae House Cafe & Backpackers is an eye catching piece located on Hugh Low Street just opposite the police station. The facade is painted with representative colors of green, yellow and red, also found in the cafe itself with images of the late, phenomenal Reggae singer Bob Marley. It’s a halal cafe so it’s good news to our Muslim friends as a good number of cafes in Ipoh are pork free or non-halal. Continue reading
