Southern France is full of Roman magnificence. Amphitheaters alone, there are two in the vicinity, one in Nimes, and one in Arles. These two amphitheaters are among the best preserved ones too.
The two amphitheaters are rather similar, in terms of size and overall appearance. I do favor the one in Nimes a little more as it is in a much bigger open space. I thought it was more grandiose and majestic. The one in Arles is a little clustered as it is set amid winding streets and surrounded by shop lots & houses. Nonetheless, both are stunning architecture that are still standing strong after more than 2000 years.
