As we were wondering around corners of Cours Mirabeau taking our pre-wedding photos, we were really delighted to see Le Mekong, a Vietnamese/Chinese restaurant.  For the past 8 days, it has just been lots of bread, french fries, meats, pasta and I do miss the Asian taste.

It’s more of a take-out place than a restaurant as there aren’t any tables and chairs for you to sit and eat.  The array of food all looked really appetizing and the prawns seemed to be the star in the display of food.

Prawn noodles, prawn salad, Vietnamese spring rolls with prawns.  The prawns looked so fresh and I could almost see the bouncy texture of the prawns.

We took away the Vietnamese spring rolls.  These spring rolls seem to maintain that consistent taste no matter which part of the world you eat them, whether it’s U.S, France or Malaysia.  Just like a McDonald’s cheeseburger would taste the same whichever part of the world you go to.  The rolls are exactly how they should be – light piece of transparent skin that wraps up the bouncy prawns and the crisp lettuce leaves.

We took away the ginger chicken which had Asia’s most popular seasoning, the soya sauce. I gotta say, I missed soya sauce! I was expecting a modified taste, perhaps a little less ginger, but no, the dish was pretty authentic and just a little bit heavy on the soya sauce.

We also took away a noodle dish, again, with authentic Asian flavors, but the only thing was, the noodle was a cold dish, more salad like and not hot or room temperature as it would normally be in Chinese cuisine.

I enjoyed the meal we took away from Le Mekong and would recommend this restaurant to everyone 🙂 Could be a bit of labyrinth trying to find this restaurant, so good luck finding it!
