Kinta Riverfront is the new hotel in town that with a Chinese Restaurant, Great Miner Chinese Cuisine. My dad was planning a dinner with family friends, so we went there to survey the food before booking a table for 10.
We ordered 4 dishes all together. The first dish was an appetising mango kerabu with fish fillet (RM25). A variation from standard mango kerabu which usually uses blanched sea food. A nice variation with fried, crispy fish fillet with sweet and sour sauce.
Black peppered assorted mushrooms (RM15). An unique dish filled with fragrance of black pepper that you won’t normally see in a typical Chinese restaurant.
Braised bean curd with sea food (RM18). A classic dish that’s done well, smooth golden tofu with abundant seafood.
Based on our first visit to Miners Chinese Restaurant, I like the food which they seem to do well with standard items and they do offer their own unique dishes which vary from other Chinese restaurants. My father’s mission of surveying the food was accomplished and he rated it positive too so he decided to book a table for a gathering with family friends.
On our second visit with our family friends, we didn’t pick from the a la carte menu and just took a set menu for a table of 10. We thought that the quality of food from the set menu shouldn’t vary too much from the a la carte menu. All I can say is – the a ala carte menu is way better, so just stick with that.
